The Benefits of Custom Made Picture Frames vs. Off-the-Shelf Picture Frames
When it comes to preserving and showcasing your artwork or photographs, the frame you choose can make a significant difference. While off-the-shelf picture frames may seem like a convenient and cost-effective option, custom framing offers a range of benefits that can enhance the presentation and longevity of your pieces. In this post, we’ll explore the advantages of custom made picture frames over their mass-produced counterparts, focusing on quality, choice, and personalisation.
Superior Quality and Craftsmanship
One of the primary benefits of custom framing is the superior quality and craftsmanship it provides. Unlike off-the-shelf frames, which are often mass-produced using lower-quality materials, custom frames are crafted with precision and attention to detail. Professional framers use high-grade materials, ensuring that the frame not only looks beautiful but also offers better protection for your artwork or photographs.
Custom framing allows you to choose from a variety of materials, such as hardwoods, metals, and even eco-friendly options. This level of quality ensures that your frame will stand the test of time, providing a durable and elegant solution that enhances the value of your artwork. Investing in bespoke framing means you are choosing a frame that is tailored to meet the specific needs of your piece, offering superior protection against environmental factors such as light, humidity, and dust.
Extensive Choice of Frame Mouldings
Another significant advantage of custom framing is the extensive choice of frame mouldings available. When you opt for off-the-shelf frames, your choices are typically limited to standard sizes and styles, which may not always complement your artwork or photography. Custom framing, on the other hand, provides you with an almost limitless array of options.
Whether you’re looking for a minimalist modern frame, a classic ornate design, or something entirely unique, custom framers can offer a wide selection of mouldings to match your vision. This flexibility allows artists and photographers to create a cohesive and harmonious display that enhances the visual impact of their work. By selecting the perfect frame moulding, you can ensure that your artwork stands out and makes a lasting impression.
Personalisation and Unique Design
Custom framing offers unparalleled personalisation and unique design opportunities. With bespoke framing, you have the chance to collaborate with experienced framers to create a frame that perfectly matches the aesthetic and dimensions of your piece. This personalised approach ensures that your artwork or photographs are showcased in the best possible light.
Custom framing also allows for additional features such as specialised glass options, matting, and mounting techniques. These elements can further enhance the presentation and protection of your work. For example, UV-protective glass can help prevent fading, while archival-quality matting ensures that your artwork remains in pristine condition for years to come.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while off-the-shelf picture frames might offer convenience, the benefits of custom made picture frames are clear. From superior quality and craftsmanship to an extensive choice of frame mouldings and personalised design options, custom framing provides a level of care and attention that mass-produced frames simply cannot match. For artists and photographers looking to elevate their work, investing in bespoke framing is a worthwhile choice.

Planting trees
We are very pleased to announce that we have smashed through the 500 mark for our tree planting initiative!
For every giclée print order over £30, for every frame ordered, for every greetings card order over £50 we plant one tree.
Together we can make a small difference, and together we can grow this number and give something back.
This isn't just a passing fad, this is something that we are committed to day on day, week on week and year on year. Creating our prints, frames and greetings cards uses valuable and vital resources, it's only right that we help to replace those resources in the form of new trees. According to out planting partner treeapp, together we have reforested 947.2 square meters of land... that's something that we can all be very proud of.
So, if you keep ordering we'll keep planting!

Big News... We're MOVING!
We are delighted, excited and (we admit) a little bit nervous to announce that we are on the move!
After over 13 years we have finally admitted to ourselves that we have outgrown the current photoART GB Towers and it's time to move on. But fear not, we're not going far, in fact we're staying at Rectory Farm, just moving to bigger premises, with a proper reception and much bigger work rooms... and we can't wait to welcome you all to our new home. We're working on a date, we've got one in mind, but we want to make sure that it's achievable before letting you all know, but it's not far away, believe us!
"We are really pleased to be able to commit ourselves to Rectory Farm as we move onwards and upwards to new premises. We've had great help from our landlord as we've set about planning this move. We love being here and have enjoyed great success over the 13 plus years that we have been here. We can't wait to get in and welcome everyone to our new home. It's a big undertaking, getting everything moved across, but we're pretty confident that we can do that in a (long) weekend and be up and running pretty quickly, that's the plan anyway!" says Gary.
As we get closer to the move we will let you all know how to find our new home, and from now on we'll be happy to walk you round to the new building to show you where it is when you next come in to visit us. There are exciting times ahead, as Bob says "We have our growing number of clients to thank for making this move possible and indeed necessary. The most important thing is that we have enough space to be able to operate as efficiently as possible. We have been struggling for space in our current home for some time now, and as soon as we heard about the new unit we were keen to go and have a look, we knew instantly that this was where we wanted our new home to be going forwards."
So, keep an eye out on our social media channels and any e-mails that may drop in to your inbox over the coming days and weeks as we get ready for the next exciting era for photoART GB.
